Groups and Ministries

Altar Servers
Boys and girls who have received the sacrament of Eucharist, Altar servers assist the deacon and priest as necessary in the celebration of Mass. Training sessions are held throughout the year.
 
Arithmathean/Altar Servers
Adult men and women who are in full communion with the Roman Catholic Church, and who assist at weekday masses, funeral, weddings, and other special liturgies.
 
Building Committee
Volunteers who assist with planning future facility improvements, maintaining grounds and facilities, resolving property issues and arranging necessary labor and materials and serves as a consultative body to the Facility Manager.
 
Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts
Troop 422 provides middle school and high school boys with activities designed to make them well rounded citizens through various projects and areas of interest, including their Catholic faith. Pack 422 provides grade school boys the opportunity to learn scouting basics and philosophy through outdoor activities and other events.  http://www.troop422.us/   http://www.pack422.org/
 
Elizabeth Ministry
The Elizabeth Ministry prepares meals for those members of our parish family who are experiencing extended periods of illness, post-surgery, hospitalization, bed rest or recent childbirth. Members are contacted once a month to prepare a full meal for a family.
 
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHC)
An extraordinary minister of Holy Communion is a lay person or religious who has been deputed by the bishop for a period of time, or by a priest for a single occasion, to assist the priest and deacon in distributing Holy Communion to the faithful.  EMHCs  also serve, by bringing Holy Communion to the homebound and those in assisted living.  Email EMHC@stcatherinercc.org for information.
 
Fun Night!
An evening of fun and socialization for individuals with disabilities as well as an opportunity for respite for parents and caregivers. All ages and levels of disability are welcome. Participants must provide their own transportation. Fun Night! meets the second Friday of each month from 6-9p. Adult volunteers must successfully complete the Archdiocese of Atlanta’s Safe Environment program.
 
Gift Shop
The gift shop is open after weekend Masses and offers a variety of religious items for sales with new merchandise arriving weekly. It is staffed by volunteers.
 
Great Adventure Bible Study
This Bible Study teaches the Bible using the timeline based program developed by Jeff Cavins. Study groups meet in various locations at various times.
 
Haitian Ministry 
The Haitian Ministry meets on the 1st, 3rd and 4th Thursdays from 7-9p in the St. Joseph Chapel. They are available to serve the community such as assisting the 2010 Haitian earthquake victims and provides community service projects for Haitian-American youth.
 
Hearing Impaired Ministry
This ministry provides sign language interpreters for the 9a Sunday mass as well as providing equipment for the hearing impaired for all masses. Welcomes experienced sign language interpreters or those who would like to learn.
 
Knights of Columbus
With over 1.8 million members worldwide, is dedicated to four founding principles- Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism. St. Catherine’s Council 9923 is an active council assisting the Parish and community.
 
Knight of Columbus (Columbian Squires)
This ministry is open to Catholic boys between the ages of 10 and 18. The Squires strive to provide the spiritual, cultural, civic, social and physical improvement of its members and the development of leadership qualities. Young men are involved in programs to benefit the Church and the community as well as recreational and social activities. Scholarships are available to Squires for college and vocations.
 
Knights of Columbus (Columbiettes)
Is an organization of Catholic women dedicated to our patronesses: the Blessed Virgin Mary, St. Theresa the Little Flower and St. Joan of Arc and promote the spiritual, social and charitable welfare of our members. The Columbiettes assist the Knights of Columbus on various charitable activities as well as their own. Membership is available to all Catholic women 18 years and older.
 
Knights of Columbus (Squirettes of Mary, Our Lady of Grace)
Catholic organization for young ladies ages 10-17 who help the Church and local community through various service projects and bond through spiritual and social activities while learning valuable leadership skills.
 
Landscape Committee
Volunteers work with the Facility Manager to set up a long-term landscape program. They organize annual spring and Fall parish cleanups.
 
Lay Apostolate Ministry
This ministry meets monthly to recite the Rosary. They follow in the footsteps of the Apostles by serving Jesus in many ways to help save souls.
 
Linus Lunch Bunch
This ministry provides lunches to the students at Kennesaw State University’s Catholic Center Monday-Thursday following their daily mass.
 
Music Ministry/Choirs
- dedicated to enriching the worship of the Lord through music.
-Angel Choir- open to children in grades K-3
-Bell Choir
-LifeTeen Band serves at the Sunday 5p Mass
-Pueri Cantores Youth Choir- open to children grades 4-12
-Schola Cantorum- open to all adults able to sing at a basic level
-Spanish Vigil Choir- open to all adults and instrumentalists,  must be able to sing in Spanish
-Sunrise Choir-open to all adults for the Sunday 7a Mass
New members for all of these are always welcome!
 
Papercraft Ministry
Works with other ministries to create various paper crafts such as invitations or favors.
 
Readers/Proclaimers of the Word 
Men and women with strong voices and a willingness to serve at mass are welcome. Training is provided but must be able to prepare and rehearse before Mass.
 
Returning Home Ministry
Available to assist and identify Catholics who have been inactive in their faith for various reasons and welcome them back to our faith.
 
RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults)
RCIA provides information and instruction for those wishing to become Catholic, as well as those interested in learning more about the Catholic faith, whether already Catholic or of another faith. RCIA is the process in which adults are initiated into full communion with the Catholic Church. Classes form in the fall with full reception into the Catholic Church at the Easter vigil on Holy Saturday.
 
Rosary Makers
Our Lady’s Rosary makers send rosaries they make to the underprivileged throughout the world. We will teach you and provide all materials. No meetings to attend, work in the comfort of your own home.
 
Sacristans
The Sacristan is responsible for the preparation for all liturgical celebrations, including preparations of all items for mass, cleaning and purifying sacred vessels and altar linens, and have a knowledge of proper decorum of the mass.
 
Siena Business Guild
Parish business owners and managers who incorporate Catholic beliefs and ethics into all aspects of their everyday lives and who wish to promote cooperation and fellowship leading to productive business relationships. Members strive to contribute to each other’s success.
 
Siena Ladies Book Club
Open to women of all ages who meet monthly to discuss the current book selection. Books chosen help to develop our Catholic faith and strengthen us as women, wives and mothers.
 
Siena Seniors
Parishioners 60 years of age or older join together for social, educational, recreational and community activities as well as spiritual growth. They are “seniors helping seniors” performing services to aid and assist others.
 
Single Adult Ministry
Men and women age 40 and older who provide service to the parish while ministering to each other’s spiritual and emotional needs. Meetings are held monthly and begin with attendance at 7p mass, followed by dinner and socializing.
 
Sponsor Couple Program
Members of our parish married at least 5 years. These couples meet on a one-on-one basis with the potential wedding couple in preparation of the Sacrament Marriage.
 
SVdP Society (case work, food pantry, thrift store)
St. Vincent DePaul Society- members join together to assist those who are needy and suffering within our community. SVdP provides assistance to those in need of food, clothing, household items, payment of rent, utility or medical bills. Members serve others through Home Visits, Help Line Volunteers, Pantry Helpers, and Food Delivery. Additionally SVdP operates a Thrift Store in downtown Kennesaw. Revenue from the Thrift Store is used to help those in need. The SVdP thrift Store volunteers serve as clerks, cashiers and sorters.
 
Ushers
Ushers assist at weekend masses; operates through the Knights of Columbus.
 
Vocations Ministry/Elijah Cup
Praying for vocations is the most powerful way to support our clergy and focuses on four areas: Prayer, Awareness, Affirmation and Support. As a part of the Vocations Ministry the Elijah Cup is taken home each week by a family to pray for vocations during the week. For the current schedule, please click here.
 
Wedding Guild
It is the privilege of this ministry to share in one of the biggest days in a couples’ life. The Wedding guild meets with the couple a few times prior to the wedding, assist at the rehearsal and wedding ceremony.
 
WEDS (Write, Exchange, Dialogue, Share)
Open to married couples who have completed a Marriage Encounter Weekend but find themselves in needs of encouragement. Monthly potluck meetings with babysitting available.
