Security in our Parish

Dear St. Catherine Parish Family,

As we approach the anniversary of September 11, I want to express my gratitude to all of our service men and women and first responders who serve our country and communities so generously and sacrificially.  This Sunday, we will be praying a rosary especially for the protection of these brave men and women and for the repose of the souls of all who lost their lives on that tragic day.

I also wanted to update you on some important security measures we have in place at St. Catherine's.  We recently upgraded our security camera systems, and we now have the ability to monitor our entire premises 24/7.  Additionally, we now have a uniformed officer onsite each Sunday during our PSR class time as well as our 10:15am Mass when PSR is in session, and non-uniformed officers are present at several Masses.  We have also trained our ushers to monitor for suspicious activity around the church premises.  Additionally, large bags are not allowed on the premises unless they have been inspected by our facilities staff (children's school backpacks and diaper bags are not included among those types of bags that are prohibited but still may be subject to inspection at the discretion of our facilities staff).

Please also be aware that we follow the archdiocesan policies with regard weapons, specifically, that no firearm or knife with a blade longer than five inches will be permitted inside any church building except by law enforcement officers, or authorized security personnel (the full policy can be viewed on our website at www.stcatherinercc.org/security).

Thanks, once again, to all who serve so generously to protect our communities and our nation. If you have any recommendations for how we can enhance the security of our church and schools, please feel free to contact me.
