Dear St. Catherine Parish Family,
This weekend, members of our St. Vincent de Paul society will be present in the narthex after all of our Masses to speak about the work that they are doing for the poor and needy in our community. Members of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul (or "Vincentians") are men and women who strive to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service and charity to individuals in need. Here in Kennesaw, they run a food pantry, a thrift store, and offer personal assistance to individuals in need in our community.
The Society is named after its patron, St. Vincent de Paul, a priest in the 1600s who devoted himself entirely to the alleviation of the sufferings of the poor. St. Vincent died in Paris on September 27, 1660 and was canonized in 1737. Pope Leo XIII declared him patron saint of all works of charity. His feast day is this coming Tuesday, September 27th.
Our Society of St. Vincent de Paul at St. Catherine’s is always looking for new members to assist with the important work that they do. Your financial donations are also imperative so that they can continue to carry on their works of charity in the community; please be generous as they take up their collections each month.
