Evening Prayer Sundays at 5:45

The entire parish is invited to learn to pray Sunday Vespers together on Sundays at 5:45pm in St. Joseph's chapel, following the 4:30pm Mass. Vespers, also known as Evening Prayer, is part of the Liturgy of the Hours, which is the other major form of public prayer of the Church (other than the Mass). By the Liturgy of the Hours, the Church extends the grace of the Mass through the hours of the day so that the whole day might be sanctified by the praises of God. In the words of Pope St. Paul VI, the Liturgy of the Hours is the "high point which family prayer can reach" (Marialis Cultus 54). The text we'll use is available in the form of the iBreviary app (for Appleand Android) as well as through a subscription offered by Word on Fire.
