Georgia "Heartbeat Law"

Dear St. Catherine Parish Family, Yesterday the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals reversed a lower court decision and has allowed Georgia’s “heartbeat law” to take effect immediately. The law bans abortions in the state of Georgia once a fetal heartbeat is detected, which is about six weeks into a pregnancy. This is a consequence of the recent Dobbs decision which overturned Roe v. Wade. This is an important step in the pro-life cause for ultimately moving to protect the right to life of all unborn children. Let us continue to pray for our legislators, that they will be courageous in enacting laws which protect the dignity of every human person from conception to death. For more information, you can read the linked story from the Georgia Bulletin including a statement from Archbishop Hartmayer. Sincerely in Christ, Fr. Neil
