Stations of the Cross

Please join us every Friday during Lent for Stations of the Cross. Stations will be held in English at 7:00pm and in Spanish at 7:45pm in the church. The Stations of the Cross each depict a moment on Christ's journey to Calvary through sacred art, prayers, and reflections.

40 Days for Life

Join St. Catherine’s this Lent in a 40 Days for Life campaign to pray to end abortion. 40 Days for Life (www.40daysforlife.com) is a world-wide movement that organizes prayer vigils at abortion clinics where participants pray quietly and witness to the sanctity of life. This Lent, St. Catherine’s parishioners will gather together for prayer every Wednesday from 4:00-5:00pm outside the Planned Parenthood in Marietta.  Meet by the Blood Services Building (220 Cobb Pkwy N).  We will provide all logistical information and materials (eg. signs), and there is no commitment to attend all of the Wednesday vigils.  For questions, email Beatrice Shakal at respectlife@stcatherinercc.org.

40 Cans for 40 Days Lenten Food Drive

The Knights of Columbus are conducting a “40 Cans for 40 Days” food drive throughout the Lenten season to help stock our St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry for families in need. There will be a barrel placed in the Narthex to collect food donations, and at all Fish Fries during Lent. Thank you for your support of this important ministry!

Hallow Pray40 Lenten Prayer Challenge

This Lent, join St. Catherine's on the Hallow app for its annual Lenten Pray40 prayer challenge, beginning on Ash Wednesday, February 18th. This year's theme is Pray40: The Return. Join us on a journey back home to the Lord – no matter our sins, no matter our struggles, no matter how far we’ve strayed away. Just as we’ll see through the Parable of the Prodigal Son, we’re all farther away from God than we need to be…but the good news is God is always waiting for us with open arms, running out to us while we are still a long way off. To really help bring the truths of this parable to life this Lent in Pray40, we’ll dive into the incredible book, The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoevsky!–considered one of the greatest novels of all time.

You are invited to download the Hallow app and join our parish page by visiting www.hallow.com/parish and searching for St. Catherine's by our zip code, 30144.  You can access our parish page with a free account, or you may choose to start a free trial for the premium subscription.

Lenten Regulations for Fasting

Abstinence from meat is observed on all Fridays during Lent by Catholics 14 years or older. Additionally, Catholics 18-59 years old observe fasting and abstinence from meat on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. Those bound by this rule may eat only one full meal. Two smaller meals (that all together are not equal to a full meal) are also permitted as necessary. Those who are sick, pregnant, nursing, or with a compromised health that would be adversely affected by fasting or abstinence should not consider themselves bound by these norms.
