Hello! My name is Lisa Fiamingo, and I am your new Youth Minister. I’m so happy to join the team here at St. Catherine’s. I’ve already met so many amazing teens and am really looking forward to meeting all of you.
I’m a graduate of the Franciscan University and hold degrees in Theology and Mental Health/Human Services, and I have been working specifically with teens and college students for many years.
St. Catherine’s Teen Ministry is comprised of three programs: Confirmation, RELENTLESS, and Bible Study. Our Confirmation preparation program is for 9th graders or anyone who has not received the sacrament. Our RELENTLESS program is for teens who have been confirmed, including our current 10th graders who are already prepared and waiting for the confirmation ceremony in November. Our Bible Study is for all high school students.
All of our programs are facilitated by Virtus trained and background checked adults and college students who are committed to sharing the truth, beauty, and goodness of our Catholic faith with our youth. For more information, and to register for our programs, please see the descriptions below. If you have any questions, or if you’d like to help in any way, please feel free to contact me at email@example.com.
Sincerely in Christ,
9th GRADE CONFIRMATION PROGRAM (Foundational Year II)
Our program meets on Sundays from 3:00-4:30pm in the Parish Hall. Teens are placed in small discipleship groups whereby they discuss and explore topics that will help them best complete their preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation. They will also have other events taking place during this time that will help grow their faith and will strengthen their Catholic identity. Following this year of preparation, the Confirmation ceremony will take place in the fall of the 10th grade year. After the Confirmation ceremony, teens are encouraged to attend our RELENTLESS program to continue growing in their faith and be part of the St. Catherine’s church family throughout high school.
Our new RELENTLESS program here at St. Catherine’s is for teens who have been confirmed. The word relentless means to show no reduction in strength, and more than ever, our teens need strength to survive in the world today. In the RELENTLESS program, our confirmed teens will be inspired to rise up and be the best that they can be. They will learn how to resist the norm of cynical and defensive social interaction and replace that with a loving community of young people who support and care for each other and challenge each other to aim higher. They will more fully develop and be proud of their Catholic identity, while learning to accept all people as they are. The RELENTLESS program will show them how to inspire, encourage, strengthen, and motivate each other to truly be the best version of themselves and to live their lives to the fullest.
The program will meet Sundays from 3:00-4:30pm in the Parish Hall at the same as the Confirmation program. After the program, teens are encouraged to attend Mass at 5:00, if they haven’t already attended, and then stay for our Dinner Time from 6:00-8:00pm in the Teen Room.
TEEN BIBLE STUDY
Our Teen Bible Study will meet on Wednesdays from 6:30-7:30 in the Teen Room. We will delve more deeply into the meaning of scripture and how it applies to our lives. All high school students are welcome to attend.
