St. Catherine of Siena Feast Day - April 29th

Dear St. Catherine Parish Family,

Next Wednesday, April 29th, we will celebrate the feast day of our parish patron, St. Catherine of Siena. Over the past several weeks, I have been reading a wonderful biography of her written by Sigrid Undset. This biography has reminded me, in particular, of just how extraordinary her life was with regard to the mystical experiences she had as well as the incredible life of charity and courage that she lived. She truly was an amazing woman and remains a powerful intercessor.

Bishop Robert Barron has also produced a fantastic short film about St. Catherine as part of a video series on the saints and other important Catholic figures called Pivotal Players. He is offering a free online viewing of the film on St. Catherine up until her feast day on April 29th. Additionally, his Word on Fire Institute has published a new book on the saint called Saint Catherine of Siena: Mystic of Fire, Preacher of Freedom. If you would like to view the film or purchase the book, you can visit https://special.wordonfire.org/stcatherinebook.

To celebrate the feast day in our parish, we will be offering special live streamed Masses on April 29th in the church in English at 9:30am and in Spanish at 7:00pm. The English live stream Mass can be viewed at https://youtu.be/09nzhOQjB5I. The Spanish live stream Mass can be viewed at https://youtu.be/p0YZ3jGDdEU. Or you can search for “SCS Kennesaw” on the YouTube app on your phone, tablet, or smart TV.

I pray that St. Catherine will inspire us to deeper holiness and zeal for the Lord and his Church, and that the fire of the Holy Spirit might enlighten our hearts and minds to proclaim the gospel of true freedom in Christ.
