Yesterday the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals reversed a lower court decision and has allowed Georgia’s “heartbeat law” to take effect immediately. The law bans abortions in the state of Georgia once a fetal heartbeat is detected, which is about six weeks into a pregnancy. This is a consequence of the recent Dobbs decision which overturned Roe v. Wade.

We welcome Fr. Duvan Gonzalez as our new parochial vicar at St. Catherine’s. Originally from Columbia, Fr. Duvan was ordained a priest in 1996 for the Archdiocese of Atlanta and has been assigned to a number of different parishes in the archdiocese.
